Printmaking

Printmaking Studies: Drypoint

Instructor: Antoinette Vogt

Learn the intaglio printmaking process of drypoint in this three day workshop. Developed in the late 15th century, drypoint is a technique in which drawing is scratched directly into a printing plate by using a pointed tool. Rembrandt used this method to relay his spontaneous, expressive drawing style, creating rich blacks as well as subtle shades of gray. Students will learn the basics of plate making, inking and printing using an etching press. Students are asked to come to first class with an image or drawing they wish to use for their plate.

This class is suitable for adults and teens aged 15 and older.
